A sunny but chilly Sunday morning had the Bees visiting Bear Park for the first time, and after a closely contested fixture three weeks ago another hard "fought" encounter was anticipated. However the home side were in no mood to give the Bees any openings and terrific defence by the Bears restricted their opponents go-forward and relentless pressure on their line had the Bears scoring 4 first half tries to show their dominance with Brad Taylor (2), Owen Rowbotham and Vini Davi claiming the touchdowns. Sterling work in the middles by Liam Watson, Sam Reeves, Alistair Rothwell and Rob Heaton ensuring that the home side kept a clean sheet. Great movement around the field orchestrated by Leon Marsh, Jak Cottington and Lewis Taylor giving the outside backs plenty of opportunity to show their paces with Harry Hooper and Owen Draper constantly making the yards. Telling contributions by Michael Potts and Christian Rowland ensured that the visitors were frustrated in their efforts.
The frustrations of the visitors boiled over in two separate incidents which the young official dealt with professionally, singling out two players from each side to have a few minutes away from the rest of their team mates. The Bears undaunted they proceeded to dominate with three further scores before the Bees showed their sting with a well taken score by their hard working hooker just before the end.
A tough encounter but well controlled by the home side and very well managed by the young official.
