After a couple of false starts due to the wet and miserable weather that has been the 2024 winter, Ashton Bears Masters finally got a game under their belt, on what was a warm Friday night at Wigan St Jude’s.
Wearing the new club kit, sponsored by Pall Mall Carpets (https://www.pallmallcarpets.co.uk) the lads took their first steps for the season onto a heavy, yet playable, pitch. Despite only playing 1 game together as a team, being restricted to all-weather training, and conceding two early tries, the game was an even affair, with Bears having lots of good ball throughout. The lack of cohesion in the final 20 ultimately was to cost Bears, and we failed to penetrate a well organised Jude’s defence.
As with all Masters game, a final score of 0-0, and an excellent run out to start the season with.
